A titanium screw is fixed in the bone below the gum, and goes through a process called osseointegration (process where bone growth around the implant), which can take up to 4 months to occur.

On the implant will be placed a crown, a bridge or a denture made in order to look natural, with the same shape and color of the remaining teeth.

There are cases such as implants of immediate loading, in which the prosthetic is placed immediately after the fixation of the implant in the bone. For these cases the quality of the bone will be assessed as well as the amount of bite load that the restoration will suffer
